Dressmaking- Intermediate or experienced sewers

With Pippa Pease

This is a course for those who have sewn before, who may like to refresh their skills or would like support whilst trying a more challenging project.

You will learn in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with gentle guidance and support from Pippa, your tutor.

There will be regular demonstrations in line with the techniques being used within your projects. The choice of project is your own, Pippa will guide you toward a suitable project if you are unsure of what you may like to make. This will depend on how far you’d like to stretch yourself or maybe you would just like to build more confidence with the use of patterns and the sewing machine.

Week 1. We will discuss your projects and any issues you feel you’d like to concentrate on. We’ll talk measurements and fitting, ensuring that we start out with the right size and pinpoint the issues at hand.

Week 2. We start to cut out- alter patterns if need be and match fabric patterns where necessary.

Week3. We start to make up the projects and check for any fitting issues that may crop up.

Week 4. We continue with projects alongside demonstrations that will coincide with the projects in hand. This could be fitting pockets or ensuring a smooth invisible zip.

Week 5. We continue with projects ensuring that any demonstration given is in-line with projects being made.

Week 6.   We continue with projects with guidance as needed and demonstrations when appropriate.

Week 7. Projects are continued alongside a demonstration as needed.

Week 8. Projects continued and or finished.

About the tutor

I am Pippa.

I’m a dressmaker and tutor who loves to share my skills. I have been sewing for about 30 years, form when I was a teen. I enjoy working with fabrics to bring them to life by making something to wear.

I live in rural Norfolk where I create beautiful garments and occasionally make forays into the veg patch.

I have a sewing blog www.thefabricwrangler.wordpress.com and also collaborate with another blogger, www.craftyclyde.com to bring together Norfolk sewcialists for a monthly meet with Norwich Sewcials. https://www.facebook.com/norwichsewcials/
