Writing the Short Story
Ideal for beginners or more seasoned writers who just want to have some fun with their writing. It would appeal to those who might want to unlock possible approaches to longer work such as collections and novels.
French (Beginners) – (MON EVE)
This course is suitable for students who have no knowledge or very basic knowledge of the language, especially for those who want to start learning a language from scratch.
Introduction to Creative Writing – (WED EVE)
What makes a good piece of writing and what does it take to be a writer? This is a course designed to introduce you to different forms of writing — non fiction, fiction and poetry — as a way to help you explore new techniques and approaches.
Introduction to Public Speaking (THU EVE)
We will look practically at how to prepare, the fear of rejection, patterns of speech and tone and the use of silence. We will consider how we use facial expressions, gestures and body movements, and how we welcome and connect with an audience. This course is practical, hands on and enjoyable.
Still Life – Observational Drawing & Watercolour
Using Still Life as a springboard in developing our drawing and painting ability we will see how observation is key to our understanding of subject and art work as a whole.
Writing Fiction for Children – An Introduction (TUE)
The course will explore writing fiction for children aged 5-12. Perfect for those getting started in writing fiction for children.
Exploring Shakespeare – Twelfth Night (FRI DAY)
What makes Twelfth Night a good play? Why is it so frequently performed? What does it say about love? Pretension? Illusion? Delusion? What does it say to us in the 21st Century? What are the particular qualities of poetry, language and drama that make up its appeal? These are some of the many questions we will address in this course on Shakespeare.
Introduction to Illustration & Creative Drawing (MON EVE)
This is a relaxed, practical course and would be ideal if you have interest in drawing and creative practice in general. Prior drawing experience is not necessary but you should be willing to draw and to share your drawings with others.
Introduction to ‘Pastels for Pleasure’
Together we will explore and experiment with different pastels and papers to discover our own individual skills and flare in this exciting medium.
Italian (Beginners) – (TUE EVE)
Italian Beginners gives you the chance to learn how to use the right language in the right context; you will get to grips with the building blocks of the Italian language and start to speak with ease and confidence in basic situations.
